Do not allow yourselves to stoop to the level of antisemitism. This harms not only Jewish people, but Palestinians as well. The atrocities committed by the State of Israel are not attributable to all Jewish people. Likewise, violence committed by the religious extremists in Hamas does not reflect on every Palestinian Muslim.

Judaism is not the problem. The problem is the Israeli settler colonialist project, of which not every Jew supports. Zionist Jews are opposed by both secular and religious Jews in Israel and abroad for many reasons. The conflation between Zionism and Judaism only serves the interests of right-wing extremists on either side of the conflict. Do not allow far-right Zionists and antisemites to conflate Zionism with Judaism. Antisemitism is inexcusable.

Antisemitism reinforces Zionist rhetoric, inciting further hatred and violence against the Palestinian people. Oppose racism and bigotry of any kind. Reject antisemitism. Stand against apartheid. Reject Islamophobia. Stand with the oppressed people of Palestine. 🇵🇸

Man finally a correct take! Seen a disturbing amount of “lefties” (mostly tankies but still) defending Hamas as a liberatory movement. Anyway yeah fuck all ethnonationalist zealots, and I hope the little people make it out alright.

That being said it looks like the Israeli state is gearing up for a full on ethnic cleansing :( They just told millions to “evacuate” Gaza in a matter of hours, blatantly engaged in collective punishment by shutting off water and electricity, and are using white phosphorus on civilian centers. Fucking evil shit. God I hate how cruel far right regimes are to people

Israel and Hamas have a pretty symbiotic relationship, the cruelty of the Israeli government against the people of Palestine (alongside possibly a little funding) created the conditions from which a far right anti-semitic terror group like Hamas could arise. Hamas attacks on Israel get used as justification for even more oppression, cruelty, and attempted genocide by the Israeli government (with the blessing of the Western Worlds powers that be), which then perpetuates the conditions in which terror groups like Hamas thrive… etc, etc, etc.

Meanwhile, while the genocidal zionists and the genocidal antisemites fight, the innocent people living in Palestine (and occasionally the people living in Israel, but that is statistically way less common) are the ones who suffer and die because the alt-right powers that be have locked themselves in a violent death spiral that began with Israels program of settler colonialism. They are being ground up by the cyclical nature of violence.

Israel’s program of settler colonialism must end, land has to be returned, blockades must cease, and borders must be torn down. But that alone will not be enough to free Palestine, not anymore. To be of the opinion that both the Israeli state and Hamas are evil isn’t weak “both sides are bad”-ism, it is to take the side of the people of Palestine themselves and recognise the fact that they will never be free until the cycle of violence they are trapped within ends.

There are Jewish Palestinians, there are Christian Palestinians, there are Secular Palestinians, there are queer Palestinians, and there are Muslim Palestinians who disagree with the beliefs of Hamas (because despite how so many people like to talk about religion, no religion is a monolith, and to pretend they are only legitimises Islamophobia and antisemitism) none of these people will be free under an alt-right Islamic state. All will continue to face oppression and violence.

The powerful fight one another and, because of that fighting, those without power suffer and die. History repeats itself.

No one needs to be antisemitic to support Palestine.

And Netanyahu wasn’t propping up Hamas for the good of Palestinians. It was a divide and conquer strategy, pitting the West Bank against Gaza so that he could avoid a fair and equitable two state solution.

unfortunate that the united states has been very successful at controlling narratives around word war 2 and positioning itself as the polar opposite of nazism and the main force fighting fascism when america was complicit in the holocaust. not only did american press report positively about hitler and the nazi party up until the end of the 30′s, some publications cooperated with nazi germany, american companies had investments and connections to nazi germany that they maintained until american involvement in the war, and companies like ibm in particular gave nazis the technology necessary to make the holocaust possible in the first place. some company owners themselves had nazi sympathies like henry ford and others just saw it as a business opportunity. the us denied entry to european jewish refugees and deported jewish refugees back to germany, many senators and other government officials during the 1930s openly supported nazism and worked to prevent the us from taking a side in ww2, and during the 30s large pro nazi rallies were held across the us. american eugenics movement, american race laws and american genocide set the model for the holocaust and there shouldnt be any discussion of nazism and the holocaust without also discussing the extent of american complicity in it.

anyways heres some material on it

ibm and the holocaust

hitlers american friends

ap press cooperation with nazis

hitlers american model

general motors and nazi germany

operation paperclip

us reporting on the rise of fascism

its always to your benefit to look at history through different lenses, especially with american myth. from the founding of this country as a ‘free real estate’ land grab that necessitated genocide, to the economic-first and humanitarian-second, third, or fourth factors to the civil war and so many other pivotal points in its own and global history, you need to shake loose the self-serving myths.

you need to analyze the huge contradictions in the noble narratives. the savior who at best, takes years to act and takes all the credit

i swear to god, men raising their voice is the most terrifying thing in the whole world. they dont understand, like its an immediate panic response, game over

I actually had no idea women found this so scary

my downstairs neighbors fight on a regular basis, and every time he starts yelling i’m a little afraid he’s going to kill her. i have no reason to think this except that he is a man and he is angry

My math teacher has a loud voice and a temper and he scares the living shit out of me almost everyday. He’s made me and other kids cry more than once and he and his teacher buddies make a joke out of terrifying students.

this was women in general? i knew my gf didn’t like it but I was unaware if this affected most women

Yes, it does

As a woman, I had no idea it effected other women like this. I was too afraid to even talk about it. I thought I was weak. Thanks for bringing attention to this.

My dad thinks it’s funny that I used to cry when he raised his voice. I freak out whenever some one does. Once my director did, and I started crying I couldn’t stop. I’m glad to see I’m not alone…

This is so important– seeing how common this is– and I also want you all to know that this is not normal. It isn’t something instinctively ingrained into women, to be afraid of men. There is no natural state of men being a threat that women constantly have to be afraid of. This is cultural. So many women and girls here have a mutual understanding of this feeling, and I think it really shows an unsettling truth about our society, particularly about how men are raised to act and how so many women have this defensive reaction gradually develop. It’s so important that these people have their voices heard, because it teaches us about problems that we just can’t deny the existence of any longer.

I’m glad I’m not the only one

Massive fuck you to everyone who is talking about Palestinians as if we’re already all dead and sharing more solidarity with our corpses than us living. “We will never forget the beautiful Palestinian people-“ how about you stop “making peace” with Palestinian extermination. My people are not going to be forgotten because we are going to live. Palestinians have already survived one genocide and have been surviving one ever since.

Do not ever let the idea that all Palestinians are going to die exist in your mind. Mourn the dead, fight like hell for the living.

it’s so wild when people complain about religious inclusion like “oh so you think THEY should get special privileges/accommodations to do x, y, or z??”

and the things they’re talking about are like. exceptions to rules or norms that in themselves shouldn’t exist. yes Richard, we actually should have diverse meal options at work events to accommodate people with different diets. yes, people should be allowed to take time off to be with their family during whatever holidays or life events they so choose. yes, people should be able to wear clothing that makes them comfortable. nobody should be happy about these restrictions existing. stop bitching about the singular jewish or muslim person in your workplace and realize that everyone deserves better.

I had an interesting experience recently, which I feel like culturally Christian people might benefit from hearing about. I’ve been recently in the process of helping to plan an event. Many attendees at this event keep kosher. Since kashrut is a very specialized dietary restriction, which I know not all venues can accommodate, my first question to all of the potential venues I’ve looked into has been “do you allow outside kosher catering vendors, or otherwise have some way to allow for kosher catering?”

One of the venues I reached out to replied that they were “capable of providing for our dietary needs.” Now, since I’d asked about several possible catering options, and since they’d only replied generally and without actually specifying which they were saying they could do, I was a bit suspicious. So I followed up, and asked what exactly they meant by that: did they allow outside caterers in general? or did they have a specific kosher catering partner? or could they actually cater kosher food themselves? what?

Their answer was – and I swear I’m not making this up – that they didn’t allow any outside caterers, and couldn’t cater any food which was actually kosher, but that they could provide us with a menu that included “knishes” and “potato, pancakes” [sic], and so hey, that was basically the same as providing for our dietary needs, wasn’t it?

Now here’s the thing:

The dietary restriction shared by the most people at this event is keeping kosher, but one of the attendees, who doesn’t keep kosher, has a severe peanut allergy. If we had done what we were planning to do and simply specified “peanut free”, and if the venue had decided, like they were apparently willing to do for the kosher food, “well ok, it’s not actually peanut free, but it’s mostly peanut free, and that’s basically the same thing”? They could have literally killed her. And if I hadn’t specifically asked, in detail, about kosher catering first, I might never have known about how lax they were about providing for dietary restrictions in general.

Now could we have explained the nuances of kosher restrictions to this venue and tried again? Yes, possibly. But their unwillingness to even try on the first pass made it abundantly clear that they were not a safe venue to work with on allergy grounds. We crossed the venue off our list immediately, and I reached out to other people in the area who I knew might be planning similar events in the future, and warned them to never use this venue, either.

Accommodations like this are instances of the curb cut effect. If you don’t personally have a diet or a family obligation or clothing needs that need accommodating, it’s easy to get annoyed at the people you see who are loudest about asking for those accommodations. But having those options available helps everyone, and the fact that some workplaces and and businesses and event vendors refuse to accommodate these needs should be a red flag to everyone.

Maybe you don’t care about kosher or hallal food. Maybe you’ve never had reason to take off work at an unusual time of year, and maybe you’ve never wanted or needed to wear anything unusual. But today it’s your Jewish or Muslim coworker, and tomorrow it could be you or someone you care about – with a surprise medical diagnosis that limits your diet, or with a sudden family emergency at an inconvenient time of year, or with a sensory problem you’ve struggled with your entire life but can no longer mask, or who knows what else. We all deserve better, and the people who are openly saying so are not your enemies.

also, a friendly reminder, the world we live in now consists of an active genocide.

of warcrimes being posted on twitter by the official account of israeli government.

of people looking at children, women and men being bombed, killed, starved and butchered and saying it is okay because of a single terrorist group, THAT ISRAEL CREATED.

of westerners saying to look away from the slaughter happening in gaza because your mental health is more important than thousands of lives.

of israeli politicians straight up using propaganda from nazi handbooks to dehumanise palestinians, calling them less than human, less than the rest of us, animals.

and what one palestinian man posted on his social media hit me more than anything: “if we actually were animals, people would care.”

As always, the Irish speak nothing but facts.

How many more innocent civilians have to be killed by Israel before you condemn that for it?

That is a genocide.

That this is a crime on all accounts.

And deserves to be punished to the full extent off the law.

any bitch that says “you can be critical of israel but-” or “israel had racist government but-” should swallow a goddamn boot

i’m not “critical” of israel, i think it shouldn’t exist. i don’t think anyone has a right to a fascist apartheid ethnostate built on the mass graves of an indigenous population. and reducing the horror of ethnic cleansing, genocide and apartheid laws that palestinians have been enduring for decades to just “israeli government is kinda racist” makes me fucking lose my mind

@masriyah what do you think should happen to the Israeli people, if Israel were to dissolve & it all becomes free Palestine?

i don’t know and i don’t think that’s more important to think about than the dismantling of apartheid and settler colonialism under which palestinians are suffering right now

Three big points here:

  1. After the end of Apartheid in South Africa, white South Africans have continued to dominate the country economically. In fact, the richest white South Africans have only INCREASED the amount of wealth they’re hoarding since Apartheid ended. South Africa has the worst wealth gap on the planet, with race remaining the largest determining factor in a person’s socioeconomic standing. Despite white South African moral panics about “white genocide,” Black people are disproportionately at risk of violence in post-Apartheid South Africa. Based on historic precedent, Palestinians are at higher risk of socioeconomic exploitation and ongoing violence than their colonisers even if the Israeli state is abolished.
  2. If you’re genuinely concerned about Israelis, maybe consider that living in a fascist state that is arresting people for social media posts that aren’t genocidal enough is something that already exists and is happening to them right now and that not living in a genocidal fascist state would be better for anyone who isn’t fascist and genocidal.
  3. Israel is carrying out genocide. Creating moral panics about hypothetical reverse genocides to demonise resistance to an actually ongoing genocide is straight up fucked. Go fuck yourself.
